The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) was established under the Railways Act 2008, Act 779 passed by parliament on 14th November, 2008 and received Presidential Ascent on 6th January, 2009.

The approximately 78 kilometers rail line project from Manso to Huni Valley in the Western Region is progressing steadily. The standard gauge rail line project is part of the development of the entire Western Railway Line.
